Working in private client law offers the opportunity of meeting and getting to know clients and their families and it’s a privilege for me to work for them, many of whom have become friends.
Having been educated in Cambridge and at the College of Law, I joined my first firm in 1986 before moving on to Slaughter & May in the City of London. I joined Brachers at the end of 1991 as a specialist private client solicitor and became a partner in 1994. I became head of the private client department in 1998 and have relished working with a fantastic team of supportive lawyers whose expertise has grown over the years.
Throughout my time at Brachers I have been ably assisted by a Jack Russell who sits by my side barking orders. Less noticeable has been my bizarre habit of wearing red socks every working day for twenty-five years or so.
When not being barked at, I enjoy the company of fine people, fine wine and to mess about in my Dunkirk Little Ship. As I have grown older I have started to enjoy the garden (mainly pointing at things) and one day I plan to learn how to make things grow.
